Applicant Admission Requirements:
- Applicants must be a high school graduate, or possess a G.E.D.
- Official high school transcript
- Copy of G.E.D. certificate to the college.
- Applicants wanting to transfer credits from other colleges must submit an official transcript from those institutions when applying to the college. The VMCAD Registrar will review transcripts to determine eligibility of credits for transfer.

- Letter of recommendation.
- Letter of student interest and goals
- Admission Interview with the college
- Entrance evaluation
Admission Procedures:
1. Applicants must submit a completed application form along with a $50.00 application fee. The application fee will be refunded if either the applicant’s enrollment is not accepted by VMCAD, or if the applicant decides not to attend VMCAD. Fee may be paid by check, money order, or credit/debit card. CASH NOW ACCEPTED.
2. Applications should be neatly printed and not typed. Essay questions should be handwritten and may be answered on a separate sheet of paper. Online applications do not require essays to be handwritten.
3. A letter of recommendation is required. It must include the name, address, and daytime telephone number of the person writing the recommendation.
4. Write a letter to the college President, Virginia Marti Veith, stating
a) the reason for wanting to attend VMCAD
b) the reason for their belief that they should be accepted.
5. Complete an informative interview. Parents, spouses, and friends are encouraged to be present for this session.
6. Applicants are encouraged to tour the campus prior to enrollment.
7. Applicants are required to take an entrance evaluation. Results of this evaluation may determine the need for developmental classes as well as eligibility for transfer of credits from another college. Applicants may be offered a re-test based on high school transcripts or professional experience.
8. Portfolio Review (not mandatory, but beneficial). Five to ten pieces of original artwork that demonstrate:
- One and two point perspective
- Realist drawings
- Value transitions/gray scale
- Color theory (in any medium)
- Shading and texture
- Any human anatomy/figure drawing
- Any digital work done in Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, etc
Internet Admissions Procedures
Out-of-state applicants wishing to apply online may do so.

- Although applicants may submit an application electronically, both a letter of recommendation and a letter to the college President are still required.
- Arrangements must be made between the applicant and the admissions representative, by telephone, to conduct the required interview.
- Arrangements must be made between the applicant and the admissions representative for a qualified person to proctor the entrance evaluation.
- The tuition amount for non-residents of Ohio is the same as the tuition amount for residents. See tuition page for details.
Requirements for International Student Applicants
Before an international student may be considered for acceptance into the Virginia Marti College of Art and Design, they must submit the following:

Transcripts of grades from school last completed and/or currently attending, translated into English.
- Copy of Birth Certificate
- Proof of income/financial status (Affidavit of Financial Responsibility Form)
- Proof of proficiency in the English language
- Application for Admission into VMCAD
- Application fee of $200.00, American currency (non-refundable)
- Registration fee of $300.00, American currency (refunded if student is not accepted)
- Student must attend Full Time, if accepted (be sure to specify "full-time" on the application)
- Doctor’s letter of good health
After the college has received all of the above, the Office of Admissions will then issue the legal form to be completed by both the applicant and the proper authorities in the applicant’s country. This is the I-20 form.
