Step One: Call

One of our helpful admission representatives will listen to your design dreams and education goals. They can send you more information or book a campus tour.

Step Two: Visit

You will be greeted by an admissions representative, who will provide a personalized tour, listen to your goals, and answer your questions about course planning and tuition assistance. This informative tour will take approximately one hour.

Step Three: Apply

VMCAD Admission Procedures:

1. Complete a downloaded VMCAD application form. Prepare the application neatly by hand. Do not type. Essay questions should also be handwritten and may be answered on a separate sheet of paper.
2. Provide an official high school, G.E.D. and, if applicable, a college transcript.
3. Write a letter to the college President, Virginia Marti Veith, handwritten, stating why you want to come to VMCAD and why you feel you should be accepted.
4. Take the VMCAD entrance evaluation. Results of this evaluation will determine the need for developmental classes, as well as eligibility for transfer of credits from another college. Applicants may be offered a re-test based on high school transcripts or professional experience.
5. Bring a portfolio for review (not mandatory, but beneficial). Choose five to ten (5-10) pieces of original artwork that demonstrate one or more of the following:
   1. One and two point perspective
   2. Realist drawings
   3. Value transitions/gray scale
   4. Color theory (in any medium)
   5. Shading and texture
   6. Human anatomy/figure drawing
   7. Digital work done in Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, etc.

This application visit will take approximately 90 minutes.
