Today's fashion designer has
to be able to think historically and reinterpret ideas
from the past and predict trends in the future. Being
able think economically, socially, and globally when
developing his or her idea is an intergral part of the
process.
The Fashion Design Program at Virginia Marti College enhances
these fundamental skills by utilizing the most current
technological tools and providing a solid artistic foundation.
This program is for the serious minded student interested
in creating original styles from sketch through finished
garment. By developing pattern drafting, couture sewing,
and fitting skills, students will be able to create a wide
variety of styles and silhouettes. The designers' skills
evolve from basic art fundamentals to the development of
a portfolio.
