In their very last quarter before they graduate, Graphic Design students prepare a portfolio of all of their best work they've completed.  Each quarter we will feature students portfolios on this page to showcase their amazing talents.

Attending VMCAD was an excellent experience–I couldn't ask for anything more. The level of attention that this school has to your selected major is outstanding. Towards the beginning of my education at VMCAD I was a bit nervous but at the same time I was excited about how much I was going to learn.

I was familiar with some of the graphic design software but nowhere near what I thought. Much of the graphic design field was fairly new to me but that would all change after two years. Over the course of those two years I met some great people, made some good friends and most importantly, learned how to work and act as a professional.

The many class projects I worked on were diverse and all relative to the types of jobs that are available out there for graphic designers. The instructors at VMCAD were always encouraging me to think outside the box, to take my designs to the next level, making them that much better all while showing us what it takes to work in the professional industry.

Now that I have graduated from VMCAD I can take the skills I have developed and valuable information I have learned and apply it to the real world.

I walked away from VMC with a lot and I am proud of what I was able to accomplish. I carried out my portfolio with confidence and excitement, and was very lucky to have a job lined up before graduation.  None of this would have been possible without making the choices I did and working as hard as I could.

School was a huge challenge and every day I was forced to make difficult decisions. Like many, I worked my way through school and had to deal with the juggling act. And yes, I will be paying for this education for a while. But every day I remember that I have a degree now, that I’ve accomplished something big, and that I have made a name for myself.

I am eternally grateful for those who taught me with their patience, understanding and ability to unselfishly share their knowledge. Every teacher pushed me to improve myself, to work harder and to not settle for mere greatness, but perfection. I am excited to move forward with life knowing that I can and will succeed in my field.  Thank you!!!

The first day I walked into VMCAD for the admissions tour, I knew this
school would be a perfect fit for my educational goals. Today, I have
earned my degree in Graphic Design and not only do I still feel strongly
that I made the right choice, I have a job in my field and my portfolio
is proof of the professional quality work I am capable of!

The atmosphere and learning environment at VMCAD served as a great part
in creating an awesome educational experience. The small student to
teacher ratio in the classrooms gave me the opportunity to interact
directly with my teachers and fellow classmates. It provided a great
opportunity for feedback and critiques that allowed me to constantly
improve my designs, illustrations and abilities.

The variety of the curriculum helped diversify my skills, too. It gave us
exposure and practice working with a variety of mediums in multiple facets
of the graphic design industry. This, combined with the meaningful,
practical and challenging projects we were assigned, helped to push our
creativity and techniques to new levels!

Our assignments and experiences at VMCAD helped prepare us for the
professional world including the opportunity to work with real clients
before I even graduated! We got to practice the entire creative process,
from interviewing clients to presenting the final presentation of the
marketing and promotional materials that we created.

Overall, I could not have asked for a better experience! I made amazing
friendships, had the opportunity to network and earned a great
internship through VMCAD. Also, I gained confidence, skills, knowledge,
real world experience and a portfolio of my best work, which helped me
get a graphic design job right out of school.

Sarah Wuebbenhorst

Upon attending VMCAD I really wasn't sure what to expect. When I first saw the school and saw the student artwork, I thought that I was way in over my head. I had never really had any art experience in my past and was very intimidated by all the artwork hanging on the walls. I had transferred from a large university and was very pleased with the entire one-on-one attention I was receiving in ALL of my classes. It was nice to be known as "Sarah" and not a number.

I feel like I have come such a long way since I started at VMCAD, and I have all the teachers and staff to thank for that. I am very proud of what I accomplished at VMCAD: I never even knew I had the talent I did. The instructors pushed me to be better; they didn't just let me slide by like many other schools would have done. They really care about the work you do, and where it will get you in your professional career. They push, and at times they push hard, but in the end it is very rewarding to look back and see how much you have learned and accomplished. At VMC they don't just teach you the skills you need on the computer, they teach the skills you need in life, and in the professional world.
