VMCAD and KEM Team Up

Posted on Monday, December 12th, 2011

ASID VMCAD STUDENT CHAPTER and the KEM FOUNDATION

Healthy Spaces: create an attractive, lively and bright “makeover” for a local Cleveland cancer patient.

The idea that creating an inspiring, clean, dazzling new space can help patients evoke positive emotions and hopefully bring smiles each time they enter their new room.

Christina Deleon, a patient form the west side of Cleveland is currently battling breast cancer. The KEM (Karen E. Munford) Foundation teamed up Christina with the ASID VMCAD Student chapter. The students interviewed Christina, surveyed the space, laid out a plan for the living room and her bedroom. After drawings and design ideas were produced the students with the KEM Foundation’s assistance worked on getting donations for the project.

New fresh colors of greens and yellows selected for the walls make a perfect background for the new furniture, bedding, and accessories which now adorn the rooms. Christina was absolutely thrilled and overwhelmed with the rooms after they were revealed on November 12.

Thanks to all who donated cash, items, and volunteered their time with painting walls, assembling furniture and putting the rooms together.

For more information on the KEM Foundation contact Nathan Mumford at Nathan@kemfoundation.org.

Students who worked on this project:

Casey Ward, Laura Amiralian, Tabitha Hill, Stephanie   Shattuck and Andie Causey.

The KEM Foundation also donated a new flat screen TV for this room (across from sofa)
